THERAPEUTIC FRAMEWORK |
I use evidenced-based therapeutic interventions to best address the issues present for each person with whom I work. More specifically, I approach therapeutic relationships through a phenomenological framework. This framework tends to include humanism, existentialism, gestalt, narrative and some cognitive approaches. Instead of searching for a way to analyze my clients, I work to enter my client’s world and understand it. This allows me to understand which evidenced-based therapeutic interventions work best for each unique individual. I will work with you to explore your world using empathy, full acceptance of your experience without judgment, and personal genuineness.
I believe that human beings are naturally good and that people seeking therapy are not broken; they are discouraged. I consider reality a mostly subjective construction of each individual and this unique perception of reality is of high importance. When sitting with a client, the best thing I can do is become immersed in his or her reality and try to experience the world from his or her eyes. In exploring experience, healing will come not from understanding behaviors and events, or from expert use of theoretical models, but rather from relating and redescribing our experiences. |
If you would like to learn more about the use of phenomenology in therapy please click below:
"Phenomenology is the endeavor to take the phenomena as given. It is the disciplined effort to clear one’s mind of the presuppositions that so often cause us to see in the patient only our own theories or the dogmas of our own systems, the effort to experience instead the phenomena in their full reality as they present themselves."
